11 COVID-19 deaths reported in SD in the last week; active cases increase statewide and in Brookings Co.

Eleven COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Wednesday in the South Dakota Department of Health weekly update. The statewide total is 2912.

Active cases in Brookings County increase by nine to 18. Sixteen new cases reported since April 20th, the total is 8118. Recovered cases are at 8048. There have been 52 deaths reported in Brookings County. The County is in the “substantial” community spread category.

Statewide, active cases increase by 128 to 540. Total cases increase by 277 in the last week to 237,822 There are 234,360 recovered cases. Current hospitalizations hold at 38.

Seventy-two percent of the state’s eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Fifty-nine percent have completed a vaccine series and 34percent have received a booster.
