12 COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Thursday, including 1 in Brookings County

Twelve COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Thursday. The statewide total is now 2677. One of the deaths was reported in Brookings County.

Active cases in Brookings County decrease by 102 to 1080. There were 24 new cases reported Thursday, raising the total to 7915. Recovered cases are at 6791. There have been 44 deaths reported in Brookings County. The County is in the “high” community spread category.

Statewide, active cases decrease by 1786 to 27,003. Total cases increase by 733 to 229,671 There are 199,991 recovered cases. Current hospitalizations decrease by 11 to 344.

Seventy percent of the state’s eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Fifty-seven percent have completed a vaccine series and 30-percent have received a booster.
