13 COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Thursday; big jump in cases

Thirteen new COVID-19 deaths reported Thursday in South Dakota, raising the total to 236.

Active cases in Brookings County increase by 12 to 104. The overall case count is up 36 to 815. There have been 2 deaths in Brookings County and 13 hospitalizations. The County is in the “substantial” community spread category.

Statewide, active cases increase by 174 to 3832. Total positive cases increase by 747 and are now at 23,136. The Department of Health says 502 of the cases are from today and 245 are from previous days that did not get reported. Officials say it had to do with a software glitch. The 502 cases are a single day high for the state. The number of people who have recovered is 19,068. Current hospitalizations increase by two to 214.
