From Brookings County Emergency Manager Bob Hill:

The County sand bag filling location has been moved from the Brookings Outdoor Adventure Center to the Swiftel Center.

Numerous roads are being closed in the county. If you know of a road with water over it that does not have signs, please report it. It’s important that the Dispatch Center knows which roads are closed so that they can inform first responders.

Brookings County is currently under two separate flood warnings.

The Flood Warning continues for the Six Mile Creek near Brookings until further notice.
It’s currently slightly above flood stage.

The Flood Warning continues for the Big Sioux River Near Brookings. That runs from Saturday evening until further notice. Major flooding is forecast. It’s expected to rise above the flood stage of nine feet by Saturday and to continue to rise to more than 14-feet by Wednesday.

They’re predicting a crest of the Big Sioux River near Brookings to be in the 14-14.5 feet range which was last seen in 1969 during record flooding.

Also, a Flood Warning has been issued for Medary Creek near Medary until further notice. It’s currently slightly above flood stage
