Active COVID-19 cases once again top 2000 in South Dakota

Cases of COVID-19 are climbing in South Dakota.

No COVID-19 deaths reported Wednesday in the Department of Health weekly update. The statewide total is 2928.

Active cases in Brookings County increase by 37 to 97. Fifty-three new cases reported since June 1, the total is 8266. Recovered cases are at 8117. There have been 52 deaths reported in Brookings County. The County is in the “high” community spread category.

Statewide, active cases increase by 495 to 2173. Total cases increase by 970 in the last week to 241,326. There are 236,225 recovered cases. Current hospitalizations decrease by 3 to 49.

Seventy-three percent of the state’s eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Sixty percent have completed a vaccine series and 32-percent have received a booster.
