Authorites trying to determine cause of death of 13-year-old in Brookings

Authorities are trying to determine the cause of death of a 13-year-old in Brookings.
Police Detective Adam Smith says police were called to a residence shortly before 6:40 Tuesday evening for an unresponsive 13-year-old who was experiencing a severe medical emergency. Life saving measures were attempted by first responders at the scene but the teen was later pronounced deceased at the Brookings Hospital.
Smith says there is no related threat to the public.
