Bill to ban medical pot edibles killed on SD House floor

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — A bill to bar the sale of flavored medical marijuana products has failed to pass the South Dakota House.

The bill would have banned the sale of cannabis products with “added sweeteners, flavorings, or colorings.”

The House also killed a separate measure that would have prohibited medical marijuana cardholders from giving medical cannabis to other people.

Up to now, the House had been more receptive to substantive changes to the voter-passed medical marijuana law than the Senate.

Both these measures were sponsored by District 4 Representative Fred Deutsch.
