Brookings man facing several charges after assaulting law enforcement officers
A Brookings man is facing several counts of assaulting law enforcement officers after a Sunday night incident.
Police Lt. Marci Gebers says police were called to a business on the 3000 block of LeFevre Drive at about 8:10 pm for a man who was threatening staff, refused to leave and tried to get behind the counter.
Police arrived and arrested 40-year-old Dayzsha Bordeaux for disorderly contact and criminal trespass. Gebers says Bordeaux resisted arrest and kicked one of the officers in the chest. The officer was not injured and a charge a simple assault against a law enforcement officer was added.
He continued to resist after being taken to the the jail. Brookings County Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring says Bordeaux assaulted three correctional officers and a jailer. One of the correctional officers was taken to the hospital for a minor injury. Aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer and three charges of simple assault against a law enforcement officer were added to the list.
