Brookings School District suspends activities, prohibits facilities use by non-district organizations
Brookings School District Official Statement on Social Distancing in Response
to COVID-19
The safety of our students and staff is the highest priority of the Brookings School District. School District administration has been monitoring the situation and is aware that Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases have been confirmed in South Dakota. The Brookings School District is in close communication with both the state and local health departments as the situation continues to unfold.
Consistent with our priorities and with a proactive response, the Brookings School District will suspend all non-essential activities effective 4:00 PM Thursday, March 12, 2020. These non-essential activities include but are not limited to concerts, in and out of town activities, field trips, competitions, PTA sponsored events, and other similar activities until further notice.
The District will suspend all facility use by non-Brookings School District organizations effective 4:00 PM Thursday, March 12, 2020 until further notice.
Before and after school childcare provided by GAP and the Boys and Girls Club will continue to operate as they have.
As updates and situations related to COVID-19 evolve, the Brookings School District encourages you to monitor your email and the district website for the latest district information. The Brookings School District will continue to communicate with the state and local health departments as well as the South Dakota Department of Education and the Center for Disease Control (CDC).
Following the Department of Health recommendations, we encourage you and your family to practice good hygiene and stay home if symptoms of the coronavirus are present.
