Brookings Sheriff’s Office to car burglar: “We have your vape pen”

The Brookings County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a series of thefts from vehicles in White.

According to Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring, four were reported last week. Items stolen from the vehicles include two handguns, wallets and a purse. It has involved unlocked vehicles parked on 4th and 5th Streets in White.

A Tuesday post on the Brookings County Sheriff’s Department Facebook page says, “If you are the individual breaking into vehicles in the White area, we have your vape pen that you left behind. Swing on by the Sheriff’s Office to claim it. If not claimed this week, we will be shipping it off to the state forensics lab to run DNA on it!”

Anyone with information on the thefts is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Department or Crime Stoppers at 692-STOP.
