Bruce teen charged in injury hit and run

A 16-year-old Brookings girl is injured in a car-pedestrian hit and run and the driver is facing several charges.

Police Lt. Marci Gebers says it was reported at about 3:30 Sunday afternoon. Brookings police were called to the emergency room for a juvenile who had been run over by a vehicle.

It had happened on the 2100 block of 22nd Avenue. The 16-year-old girl was standing next to a vehicle, talking to the driver with her hands on the window. There was a disagreement and the driver took off. The girl fell to the ground and her foot and ankle were run over. The driver did not stop.

The vehicle was pulled over about an hour later by University Police on an unrelated matter. The driver, 18-year-old Noah Morgan of Bruce, has been charged with felony injury hit and run. The UPD stop includes charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, ingesting, and driving under the influence.

The girl was treated and released.
