COVID-19 cases increase to 288 in SD, 4 fatalities now reported

There are now 288 confirmed COVD-19 cases in South Dakota with an additional 48 reported today.

Brookings County has an additional confirmed case, bringing the total to four. Two have recovered. Brookings County is now listed as community spread, in the minimal/moderate category.

There have been 5732 negative tests and 91 people have recovered from the virus. There are four confirmed COVID-19 related fatalities in the state.

There is community spread in 19 counties.

Governor Kristi Noem says South Dakota will likely hit the peak of coronavirus infections in mid-June.

President Donald Trump declared a major disaster for the state. Trump’s order directs federal assistance to supplement state, tribal and local recovery efforts in arit by the coronavirus pandemic.
