COVID-19 cases top 1000 in South Dakota with 180 reported Wednesday

COVID-19 cases top 1000 in South Dakota. The state Department of Health reports 180 new cases today, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 1168.

There have been 8691 negative tests and 329 people have recovered from the virus.

The state stands at six deaths from coronavirus.

Brookings County remains at 9 cases with 6 recovered. The County is listed as community spread, in the minimal/moderate category.

Minnehaha County saw another big jump and now stands at 924 confirmed cases. A large number of those, 644,  are connected to Smithfield Foods. The Department of health says A CDC occupational health safety team has arrived in Sioux Falls to help with the outbreak at the plant.
