Custer man ID’d as the fatality in October 25 crash

A Custer man has been identified as the person who died on the evening of October 25th in a two vehicle crash 10 miles east of Custer.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says an SUV was traveling eastbound on US Hwy 16A, went around a curve and slid on the slick road. It entered the oncoming lane and collided with a classic sports car. The SUV struck the car on the driver’s side.

The SUV spun around and came to rest on the highway. The car entered the ditch and came to rest against a tree.

The 16-year-old driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries. He was wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the sports car, 66-year-old Ronald Shaw sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt.

A passenger in the car sustained minor injuries.
