SDSU MBB…Nick Rakocevic and Jonah Mathews both went over the 1,000-point mark in their careers while helping Southern Cal rally twice in the second half before pulling away to beat South Dakota State 84-66 Tuesday night.

Rakocevic tied his career high with 27 points and 16 rebounds, giving him 1,007 career points. Mathews finished with 14 points and has 1,009 in his fourth season.

   The Jackrabbits (3-1) twice pulled within one point in the second half, both times on 3-pointers by Noah Freidel and Brandon Key. 

   Douglas Wilson led the Jacks with 15 points and David Wingett added 10 before both fouled out.


SDSU WBB…The South Dakota State women’s basketball team suffered a 61-48 loss to Creighton Tuesday in Omaha.

   The Jackrabbits fell to 0-2 early this season, while Creighton improved to 2-0.

   Myah Selland paced the Jacks with 14 points (6-of-12) and eight rebounds. Paiton Burckhard also scored in double figures as she recorded 12 points. Tagyn Larson tied with Selland for a team-best eight boards while also adding four points, a steal and a block. Tylee Irwin added seven points and grabbed six rebounds.

   Creighton was led by Jaylyn Agnew who recorded 23 points.

BOBCAT TICKETS…The Brookings Activities Office will be selling general admission State Football Championship Tickets for the 11AA game.  This game is between Pierre and Brookings on Friday November 15 at 12pm. Tickets can be bought at the High School Wednesday from 8:00am-4:00pm.  Tickets sales will end Thursday November 14 at 12pm. Tickets may also be bought online ( and at the gate.  The Brookings Bobcats will be the visitors for this game and seats will be located on the visiting side (east) of the stadium.  Sections 118-120 They will also be charging for parking ($5) at the stadium. 

    General Admission

   Adult Tickets: $15

   Student Tickets: $10.

   (Student is defined as anyone Grades 1-12. Children Kindergarten and below will not need a ticket, and can sit in the general)

   SDSU is making available upgraded seating options (Club Seating, Loge Seating, Luxury Suites).  These options need to be purchased directly through or the SDSU Ticket Office at 605.688.6942.


THEOBALD HONORED…South Dakota State swimmer Ashley Theobald was named Summit League Women’s Swimmer of the Week.

   Theobald earns her first weekly award from the league after helping the Jackrabbits in their Friday defeat of Omaha, breaking a pool record and winning two individual events along the way.

   The Ft. Pierre native set a new Marshall Center Pool ,record with her first-place time of 4:37.65 in the 400 IM. Theobald also took gold in the 50 free with a time of 24.26 and placed second in the 200 medley relay (1:50.14).

   Along with breaking a pool record, the senior’s first-place finish in the 400 IM clinched the victory for SDSU.
