Brookings Fire Chief Darrell Hartmann retires
Word from the City of Brookings that Fire Chief Darrell Hartmann has retired after 23 years of service.
Deputy Fire Chief Pete Bolzer will serve as Interim Fire Chief.
Hartmann is facing a drunk driving charge after being arrested last month.
According to Police Chief David Erickson, Hartmann was pulled over about midnight on March 19th, was given a field sobriety test, and was then arrested. He was released on bond the following morning. A court date is set for April 26th.
On this matter, Brookings City Manager Paul Briseno said “the city does not publicly comment on personnel matters.”
