Five COVID-19 deaths reported in SD Friday; active cases falling

Five COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Friday. The statewide total is now 2853.

Active cases in Brookings County decrease by three to 88. Two new cases reported Friday, the total is 8078. Recovered cases are at 7939. There have been 51 deaths reported in Brookings County. The County is in the “moderate” community spread category.

Statewide, active cases decrease by 101 to 3016. Total cases increase by 51 to 236,602. There are 230,733 recovered cases. Current hospitalizations decrease by eight to 88.

Seventy-one percent of the state’s eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Fifty-eight percent have completed a vaccine series and 32-percent have received a booster.
