Five COVID-19 deaths reported in SD Wednesday, including 2 in Brookings County

Five COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Wednesday. The statewide total is now 2784. Two of the deaths were reported in Brookings County.

Active cases in Brookings County decrease by 50 to 188. There were five new cases reported Wednesday, raising the total to 8056. Recovered cases are at 7818. There have been 50 deaths reported in Brookings County. The County has improved from the “high” to the “substantial” community spread category.

Statewide, active cases decrease by 1623 to 6083. Total cases increase by 427 to 235,541. There are 226,674 recovered cases. Current hospitalizations decrease by 40 to 171.

Seventy-one percent of the state’s eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Fifty-eight percent have completed a vaccine series and 32-percent have received a booster.
