GRAND FORKS, N.D.–Six candidates have accepted invitations to visit the University of North Dakota campus to interview for the position of President and it includes a former SDSU official.

The visits will take place in mid-November, and the State Board of Higher Education will name UND’s next president at its Dec. 3 meeting.

A total of 61 applications were received for the position. The UND Presidential Search Committee interviewed 11 candidates last week, and narrowed the field to six people.

The finalists include Dr. Laurie Nichols, Interim President at Black Hills State University.

Nichols is a former President of the University of Wyoming and a former provost and vice president for academic affairs at South Dakota State University.
