Four COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Thursday; active cases continue to fall

Four COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Thursday. The statewide total is now 2788.

Active cases in Brookings County decrease by 13 to 175. No new cases reported Thursday, the total to 8055. Recovered cases are at 7830. There have been 50 deaths reported in Brookings County. The County has improved from the “high” to the “substantial” community spread category.

Statewide, active cases decrease by 427 to 5656. Total cases increase by 126 to 235,654. There are 227,210 recovered cases. Current hospitalizations increase by 8 to 179.

Seventy-one percent of the state’s eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Fifty-eight percent have completed a vaccine series and 32-percent have received a booster.
