Granite Falls, MN police officer shot while serving warrant

A police officer was shot Monday afternoon while serving a warrant in Granite Falls, Minnesota.

Granite Falls police say the officer was part of a multi-agency task force that was serving a warrant at a home. Police says the suspect had multiple felony warrants on weapons and drug charges.

As task force members entered the home, someone inside opened fire. Officers and deputies returned fire and got out. One of the officers had been shot.

There was a 70-minute standoff with the suspect eventually surrendering.

The wounded officer was treated and released from an area hospital. The suspect is being held in the Yellow Medicine County Jail.

No other information has yet been released.
