Increased police presence at Brookings High School
According to Superintendent Klint Willert, the Brookings High School administration and Brookings Police Department worked together to complete an investigation into reports of troubling behavior by a student at Brookings High School.
Before the start of the school day today, they were able to determine there was no credible threat to student safety.
According to a release, the school was made aware of a student’s behaviors that made some other students feel uncomfortable. The school took action to look into the situation and contacted officers to increase the presence of law enforcement at the high school and to ensure assistance from law enforcement in conducting an assessment of any potential threats.
There was no evidence that the student posed any threat or danger to the school.
The release says the school will follow its established disciplinary policies with the student as warranted.
