It’s Election Day in Brookings with School Board and City Council races

It’s Election Day in Brookings with two seats up for grabs on the School Board and races for four City Council seats.

There are six candidates for two open school board seats as neither Melissa Heermann nor Van Fischback is seeking reelection.

There are seven candidates for three City Council races. Three are running for the two three-year terms and there are two candidates each for both a one-year and a two-year term.

If you’d like to see the ballot before heading to the polls, the City of Brookings has posted a sample ballot online.

Early voting has been strong with about 830 votes cast by yesterday afternoon — a similar number to last year’s early vote.

Polls are open until 7:00 pm and you may cast you ballots at any one of the four vote centers: Brookings Activity Center, Bethel Baptist Church, Holy Life Tabernacle Church and Aurora Little Hall.
