Laurie Nichols retiring as President of Black Hills State University

Black Hills State University President Dr. Laurie Nichols has announced her retirement from higher education.

Nichols has held statewide leadership roles at South Dakota State University, Northern State University, and Black Hills State. She was president for four years.

Board of Regents President Tim Rave says Dr. Nichols is a true asset to higher education, and they are grateful for all the years of service she dedicated to South Dakota.

Nichols says leading Black Hills State has been a wonderful experience and she’s confident the university is strong and well-posed for the next leadership.

Nichols will remain in her position while a search for the next president commences in the fall.
