Man injured in single-vehicle accident in Elkton
A man is injured in an early Sunday morning accident in Elkton.
The accident happened around 3:30 a.m., but when crews arrived to investigate, the driver wasn’t present. Later, 36-year-old Wilmer Lopez-Perez of Elkton walked up to the officer and identified himself as the driver.
Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring reports the vehicle had been traveling east on 3rd Street when the driver says he hit a patch of ice and lost control. The vehicle hit a tree. Lopez-Perez was taken by Elkton Ambulance to the Brookings Hospital.
Charges against the driver are pending.
