Man shot by law enforcement in Corson County

A man is in a North Dakota hospital after an being shot by a law enofrcement officer in rural Corson County , South Dakota Wednesday.

Corson County Sheriff Alan Dale says his office and Bureau of Indian Affairs Police responded to a man threatening suicide-by-cop at a rural residence. Before officers arrived, the man left in a vehicle.

Dale says law enforcement officers located the subject in the vehicle in Bullhead, South Dakota. The man brandished a firearm before returning to his vehicle and fleeing.

Following a brief chase, the subject came to a stop in a parking lot and again brandished a firearm. After repeated attempts to resolve the incident, the subject was shot once.

The subject was transported to a hospital Bismarck where he remains in serious condition.
