Manderson man indicted for beating and strangulation murder

A federal grand jury has indicted a Manderson man for Second Degree Murder.

Twenty-nine-year-old Sequoyah Mark West, Jr.appeared before a U.S. Magistrate Judge and pleaded not guilty.

It’s alleged West killed a man in April by beating and strangling him.

The maximum penalty upon conviction is up to life in custody and/or a $250,000 fine.

West was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending trial. A trial date has not yet been set.
