New manger named for Swiftel Center in Brookings

Spectra Venue Management names a new general manager for Swiftel Center in Brookings.

Michael Logan will take over as Spectra begins its management of the facility on August 1.

On May 25, the Brookings City Council unanimously approved Spectra to assume management of the multi-use facility. The five-year contract runs through the end of 2026. Spectra invited all the building’s staff to remain onboard and all but three decided to stay. Executive Director Tom Richter decided to stay with VenuWorks, Swifetl Center’s current management company and is leaving the facility.

Spectra also created and hired two new positions for the facility – director of finance and director of partnerships.

Logan previously served as Spectra’s assistant general manager and director of events at the NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. Logan was also the director of events at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines and senior event manager at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colorado.

Logan earned his master’s degree in Tourism Management from Colorado State University. He and his wife, Monica have two children.
