Newsweek names Brookings Health System one of nation’s best hospitals

For the second consecutive year, Brookings Health System has been named to Newsweek’s list of the World’s Best Hospitals.

Brookings Health ranks 254 of the Best Hospitals 2022 in the United States, up over 50 spots from last year’s ranking.

Health System President and CEO Jason Merkley says, “unsolicited recognitions such as this validates our team’s dedication to patient safety and satisfaction.” He says being the only rural community hospital from South Dakota listed by Newsweek alongside the two Sioux Falls hospitals demonstrates that our team continually innovates, attracts the best people and excels at all aspects of service and quality.

Newsweek uses hospital recommendations from peers, patient surveys and medical key performance indicators to come up with the list.
