Nine COVID-19 deaths reported Friday in SD, including 2 in Brookings County

Nine COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Friday. The statewide total is now 2637. Two of the deaths were reported in Brookings County.

Active cases in Brookings County decrease by 67 to 1514. There were 53 new cases reported Friday, raising the total to 7805. Recovered cases are at 6248. There have been 43 deaths reported in Brookings County. The County is in the “high” community spread category.

Statewide, active cases decrease by 1106 to 33,647. Total cases increase by 1145 to 225,383. There are 189,099 recovered cases. Current hospitalizations increase by seven to 411.

Seventy percent of the state’s eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Fifty-seven percent have completed a vaccine series and 30-percent have received a booster.
