Nine COVID-19 deaths reported in SD Wednesday; active cases continue their decline

Nine COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Wednesday. The statewide total is 2870.

Active cases in Brookings County decrease by one to 86. Two new cases reported Wednesday, the total is 8085. Recovered cases are at 7948. There have been 51 deaths reported in Brookings County. The County is in the “moderate” community spread category.

Statewide, active cases decrease by 77 to 2679. Total cases increase by 36 to 236,750. There are 231,201 recovered cases. Current hospitalizations decrease by eight to 69.

Seventy-one percent of the state’s eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Fifty-nine percent have completed a vaccine series and 32-percent have received a booster.
