OSHA investigating worksite death near Watertown

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating a deadly work accident just outside the Watertown city limits.

It happened Tuesday morning just after 9:30 when Codington County sheriff’s deputies and medical personnel were dispatched to a worksite accident.

Chief Deputy Brent Solum says a 47 year-old male worker was struck by an excavator bucket.

Life saving measures were attempted at the scene, and the man was taken to the Watertown Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

His name has not been released.
