Pickup and trailer lost in CRP burn south of Oakwood Lakes State Park

A pickup and trailer are lost when a planned burn goes out of control.
Brookings County Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring says it was reported shortly after 10:00 o’clock Thursday morning south of Oakwood Lakes State Park.
Sebring says a landowner was properly conducting a controlled burn of CRP acres and was using a pickup to assist with placing water to keep the fire contained. The pickup got stuck and was quickly overtaken by the fire.
Crews from the Volga and Bruce fire departments were able to quickly extinguish the burning CRP and the pickup. The pickup and the trailer were a complete loss.
