Pierre man arrested for allegedly trying to get kids high

A Pierre man has been arrested after allegedly trying to get children high on marijuana.

Pierre Police Chief Jason Jones says officers were called to a park Thursday afternoon after receiving a report via text of an adult male attempting to give the kids marijuana. Officers found three juveniles, between the ages of nine and 13.

They told police they didn’t know the man. They say he tried to get them to smoke from a pipe he was holding in front of their faces.

Police identified the suspect as 51 year-old Robert Grandon of Pierre. He was found with marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Grandon was arrested on charges of Distributing Marijuana to a Minor and three counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.

The juveniles were assessed by ambulance personnel and released to the custody of their parents.
