Ramona man arrested after incident in Brookings

A Ramona, South Dakota man is arrested in Brookings for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Police Lt. Marci Gebers says a plainclothes detective spotted a man in the parking lot between the liquor store and Hy-Vee Gas who appeared agitated and possibly intoxicated.

The man flipped over a shopping cart and began hollering at four high school age kids who were heading towards Hy-Vee gas. When the man began aggressively advancing towards the teens, the detective approached him and displayed his badge.

The man initially was compliant until the detective tried to handcuff him. He resisted and fought with the detective. Gebers says the detective was able to get him cuffed with the assistance of some bystanders. The detective suffered minor injuries that did not require medical treatment.

The man, 26-year-old Jeremiah Brown, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Gebers says alcohol was a factor.
