Ribbon cutting is Wednesday for new I29 interchange as finishing work is set
A ribbon cutting ceremony for the new interchange is set for 10:00 Wednesday morning near the intersection of 20th Street South and 34th Avenue South. Senator John Thune and Congressman Dusty Johnson are among those set to attend.
Also, starting Wednesday, construction crews plan to implement a single lane closure in the northbound lanes of Interstate 29 near exit 130 — the Brookings 20th Street Interchange.
Crews will be installing traffic controls. It will take about one month to complete both lanes.
A speed reduction of 65 mph will be in effect on I-29 through the single lane closure zone with a reduction to 45 mph when work is under way adjacent to the roadway.
