SD Department of Health returns to daily COVID-19 updates; Brookings County is back in the “substantial spread” category

The South Dakota Department of Health announced Thursday they are returning to daily COVID-19 updates.

In Thursday’s report, no new deaths were reported and the total remains 2051.

Active cases in Brookings County increase by five and are now at 63. There were 10 new cases reported Thursday, bringing the total to 4326. Recovered cases are at 4226. There have been 37 deaths in Brookings County. The County is once again in the “substantial” community spread category

Statewide, active cases increase by 61 to 1210. Total cases are up by 153 to 126,607 There are 123,346 recovered cases. Current hospitalizations increase by one to 76.

Sixty-percent of the state’s eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
