Six COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Tuesday; active cases fall statewide

Six COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Tuesday, the statewide total is now 2334.

Active cases in Brookings County increase by four to 150. Thirty-three new cases reported Tuesday. The total is now 5366. Recovered cases are at 5175. There have been 41 deaths in Brookings County. The County is in the “high” community spread category.

Statewide, active cases decrease by 475 to 6778. Total cases increase by 1341 to 166,208. There are 157,096 recovered cases. Current hospitalizations increase by nine to 243.

Today’s numbers include some of those reported over the long holiday weekend.

Sixty-four-percent of the state’s eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. The way the state calculates the vaccination percentage has been changed to reflect the fact that children ages five to eleven are now also vaccine-eligible.
