Snow removal parking ban goes into effect Wed. night in Brookings
The City of Brookings has issued a residential snow removal parking ban that takes effect at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday and will remain in effect until 6:00 a.m. Saturday.
During this time, people should not park vehicles on city emergency routes or residential streets, avenues or alleys. Violators will be subject to ticketing and towing.
The ban does not include the downtown core business district, which is from Third Avenue to Fifth Avenue and from Sixth Street to the railroad tracks. However, vehicles must be removed from streets in the downtown business district between 2:00 and 5:30 a.m. daily.
Crews began plowing emergency routes early Wednesday morning. The City expects to start plowing residential streets on Thursday, once the storm has ended. Some City streets may be impassable on Wednesday and Thursday for low-clearance, two-wheel drive vehicles.
