The Brookings Street Department will be sealing streets with oil and rock starting today (July 28).

Streets and avenues to be sealed will include the areas north of 6th Street from 5th Avenue to 14th Avenue, 7th Street from Medary to Jackrabbit Avenues, University Boulevard, North of 6th Street to the bypass from 22nd Avenue to 25th Avenue, Sunrise Ridge Road, Minnesota Drive, Eastbrook Drive, Insbrook Lane, 32nd Avenue from 6th Street North, Capital Street, Century Circle, and 34th Avenue from 6th Street to the Brookings Regional Landfill.

Residents who live in areas scheduled for seal coating should not park anything on their street from 6 am to 8 pm until their street has been covered with rock. Vehicles will be towed at owner’s expense.

Also, the City is asking that residents do not water lawns or drain sump pumps onto the streets during seal coating.

Motorists are encouraged to drive slowly, be cautious of equipment, trucks and employees. Bicyclists and motorcyclists should exercise extreme caution when using these streets.
Residents are encouraged to utilize alternate routes.
