Suspects in custody in White-area break-ins and thefts

The Brookings County Sheriff’s Office says the two people they believe are responsible for the recent vehicle break-ins and thefts in the White area are in custody.

The suspects have been identified as 23-year-old Miranda Sanow of Lake Benton, MN and 21-year-old Sabyn Polfliet-Welvaert of Ghent, MN. The two have been indicted by a Brookings County Grand Jury with 2 counts of Grand Theft, Aggregated Petty Theft in the First Degree, and 6 counts of Criminal Entry of a Motor Vehicle.

Sanow is currently in the custody of the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office on a $2,500 cash only bond. Polfliet-Welvaert is currently in custody in Lyon County, MN facing local charges. He’s also being held on the Brookings County Warrant.

Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring says they have recovered numerous wallets, purses and other items. Two handguns that were stolen in the vehicle thefts have not been found.

Sebring says they believe the two were responsible for all the recent thefts in the White area.
