Teen killed, man seriously injured in head-on collision near Burke
A teenager was was killed and a man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash Friday night east of Burke.
Names of the two people have not yet been released pending notification of family.
An eastbound car on South Dakota Highway 18 crossed the center line and collided head on with a westbound pickup hauling a flatbed trailer.
The 16-year-old male driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
The 29-year-old man driving the pickup sustained life threatening injuries. He was taken by ambulance to the Burke hospital and then airlifted to Sioux Falls.
The Highway Patrol is investigating.
