Three people are injured in an early Saturday morning accident at Highway 14 and 478th Avenue.

Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring says a car driven by 18 year old Amy Charging of Aurora was traveling south on 478th Ave. and did not stop for the stop sign at the intersection with Highway 14. The car collided with a straight truck driven by 43-year-old Dienye Andrew-Jaja of Shakopee, Minnesota. It happened at about 5:30 a.m.

Charging was transported to the Brookings Hospital by ambulance and later transferred to a Sioux Falls Hospital. A passenger in the car, 19-year-old Xavier Nygard of Brookings, was airlifted to a Sioux Falls Hospital. Andrew-Jaja was taken by ambulance to the Brookings Hospital.

Charging is facing charges of a stop sign violation, DUI, vehicular battery, zero tolerance, possession of a controlled substance, ingestion of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a seat belt violation. Nygard and Andrew-Jaja were wearing seatbelts.
