Time and date set for Brookings City Council recount

The recount time and date is set for the one-year Brookings City Council race between Brianna Doran and Andrew Rasmussen. Doran won by seven votes:

Rasmussen requested the recount.

The Recount Board will convene on Monday, May 2nd, at 8:00 a.m., at the City & County Government Center.

The recount will be conducted pursuant to state law.

There is a three-member recount board. Tim Reed will represent Rasmussen, Bob Burns is representing Doran and former Chief Justice of the South Dakota Supreme Court, David Gilbertson is the neutral third member. Gilbertson now lives in Brookings.

The last City Council recount in Brookings was in a 2015 race. There was no change in the final results.
