Two COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Friday; active cases continue to fall

Two COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Friday, the total is now 1991.

Active cases in Brookings County drop by 2 to 24. There are 2 new cases, raising the total to 4212. There have been 37 deaths in Brookings County and there are 4151 recovered cases. The ever hospitalized number is at 158. The County is in the “moderate” community spread category.

Statewide, active cases decrease by 46 to 890. Total cases increase by 47 to 123,644. There are 120,763 recovered cases. Current hospitalizations decrease by 1 to 67.

Fifty-six percent of the state has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Some 627,536 vaccinations have been administered in the state to 337,559 people. A total of 24,579 doses have been given in Brookings County to 13,711 people.
