Two COVID-19 deaths reported in weekly South Dakota update; active cases rising

The weekly COVID-19 update from the South Dakota Department of Health includes two new deaths, raising the total to 2043.

Active cases in Brookings County increase by two and are now at seven. There have been two new cases reported in the last week, bringing the total to 4250. Recovered cases are at 4206. There have been 37 deaths in Brookings County. The County is back up to the “moderate” community spread category

Statewide, active cases increase by 144 to 434. Total cases are up by 269 in the last week to 125,216. There are 122,739 recovered cases. Current hospitalizations decrease by 5 to 38.

Fifty-eight percent of the state’s eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
