Update: Nine Pride flags torn down in Brookings, 8 are missing
An update from the Brookings Police Department on the pride flags that were stolen from Downtown Brookings over the weekend.
Lt. Marci Gebers says they now know a total of nine flags were torn down. One of them was found on the ground and the others are missing. In addiiton, some flag poles were damaged.
The flags are owned by the City of Brookings and were purchased through the City’s Human Rights Commission. The total value of the nine flags is $344.
Police are looking for any businesses that might have video showing the thefts.
Gebers says they have received some tips but continue to seek information.
