The up and down unemployment numbers were up last week in South Dakota.
During the week of Sept. 27 through Oct. 3, a total of 404 initial weekly claims for state unemployment benefits were processed by the Department of Labor and Regulation. That’s an increase of 137 claims from the prior week’s total of 267.
The latest number of continued state claims is 4,975 for the week ending Sept. 26, a decrease of 1,192 from the prior week’s total of 6,167. This indicates the number of unemployed workers eligible for and receiving benefits after their initial claim.
