Woman killed in single vehicle crash in Milbank

One person died Saturday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash in Milbank.

Names have not been released pending notification of family.

According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, an SUV was going north on a Milbank city street. As it approached an intersection, it drove up a curb, swiped a tree, and continued through the intersection at high speed. The SUV then entered a front yard and struck another tree.

A 28-year-old female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt.

The 34-year-old male driver sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries and was taken by ambulance to  the Milbank Hospital. He was wearing a seatbelt.
