Mitchell Perkins Restaurant lost to fire

The Mitchell Perkins Resturant has been lost to fire.

Firefighters responded shortly after midnight this morning. Fire Marshal Shannon Sandoval says crews knocked down the blaze in about two hours. He says flames were not visible when crews first arrived but there was smoke throughout. By the time a quick search was conducted, Sandoval says there were heavy flames throughout the building. He says they also had some trouble with water pressure.

Crews from Ethan, Alexandria and Mount Vernon helped to fight the fire.

Sandoval says the building is a total loss. He says the South Dakota Fire Marshal is being called in as well as the Division of Criminal Investigation.

The cause has not yet been determined.
